Mexico City is home to some of the best restaurants in the world. There are so many great places to choose from but here are some of our favorites

Note that many of these restaurants require reservations well in advance

  • Maximo (Roma Norte)

French-Mexican cuisine anchored in local and sustainable produce. Hard to pick but if we had to this would be our favorite restaurant in Mexico City. If that doesn’t convince you, it was a favorite of Anthony Bourdain as well! The chef and founder, Eduardo Garcia, is an absolute inspiration!

  • Contramar (Roma Norte)

Incredible seafood served in an airy dining room. Only open for lunch. The tuna tostada is so good it will make you cry. If you can’t get a reservation, their sister restaurant “Entremar”, in Polanco, has the same menu.

  • Botanico (Condesa)

Beautiful open-air restaurant in the garden of a recently renovated art-deco mansion. Very cool vibe and the food is also great.

  • Pujol (Polanco)

Voted one of the top restaurants in the world. Offers a traditional tasting menu as well as taco omakase tasting menu. Both are amazing. Chef Enrique Olvera also runs Cosme and Atla in NYC – check him out on Chef’s table. Reservations here are required months in advance.

  • Quintonil (Polanco)

Also voted one of the world’s best restaurants. Incredible tasting menu but you are also able to order a la carte.

  • Rosetta (Roma Norte)

In a restored villa in Roma with a beautiful courtyard. The menu is constantly changing but if the lemon ravioli is available, it’s a must-have. Panadería Rosetta is also a very popular bakery by the same chef.

  • Huset (Roma Norte)

Huset defines its food as “cocina del campo”, or “country cooking.” The menu – comprised by Chef Maycoll Calderón – is cooked exclusively over firewood and the ambiance feels like you are in the countryside, despite being in the middle of the city. The food is incredible!

  • Expendio de Maiz Sin Nombre (Roma Norte)

Great lunch restaurant that doesn’t take reservations, doesn’t have a menu, and only stays open until they run out of the food that they bought earlier in the day at the market. Full disclosure, this is not for picky eaters. When you arrive, they ask you if you have any food restrictions — including whether or not you eat bugs — and they get to work bringing you out one plate at a time until you ask them to stop. There can be long wait times so put down your name, walk around Roma, and they will call you when your table is ready.

  • Taverna (Juarez)

Attached to Prim (our rehearsal dinner venue), Taverna might be one of the most beautiful restaurants in Mexico City. The interiors are beautiful, and the food, which has a Mediterranean influence, is equally as incredible.
