The dress code for the wedding is formal. Festive colors/patterns encouraged! Ladies, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes (block or wedge heels, no stilettos) as some of the flooring in the venue is cobblestone and uneven. For men, a suit and tie is great (tuxedos not required!).
-
The dress code for the rehearsal dinner is colorful cocktail. No suit jacket or tie is needed.
-
The venues for both the wedding and the rehearsal dinner are indoors/outdoors (essentially, open air spaces that will be covered). The wedding ceremony will be inside, cocktail hour outside, with dinner and dancing in an enclosed patio that is under a tent. Mexico City can get very chilly at night (and early in the mornings). It can be as high as 80 in the afternoon and drop below 50 at night. We highly suggest checking the weather closer to the event and consider bringing a jacket or shawl.

While we love your kids, we have decided to keep this as an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the weekend. Thank you for understanding!

Uber is our recommended way to travel while in Mexico City. It’s cost effective and safer than taxis. Please note that traffic in the city can get bad so allow time for traffic.
-
Most hotels and nearby restaurants use filtered water, but it’s best to avoid drinking tap water. Regardless, we always order bottled water and make sure to bring bottles with us wherever we go. If you want to be extra careful, you can ask for drinks without ice. All of the water served at the wedding events will be bottled.

Yes! The city in general is very safe - especially the neighborhoods of Condesa, Roma, Juarez and Polanco. However, like any big city, you should be aware of your surroundings and don’t venture into areas which don’t “feel safe”. Here are some recommendations when exploring the city, especially Downtown:
• Take Uber (or UberBlack) late at night instead of walking
• Leave your valuables at home or locked in the safe at the hotel room
• Don’t carry lots of cash
-
The street carts are tempting, but make sure you do your research. We will be providing street food-inspired snacks late-night at the wedding, so avoid eating in the street if you can. “Travelers tummy” is a pretty common thing to experience in Mexico.
-
México City sits at an elevation of 7,382 feet. Make sure you drink lots of water. It’s also important to note that alcohol may hit you faster than normal at the altitude.
-
Mexico uses the Peso, which can be exchanged at the airport upon arrival or withdrawn from any ATM using your debit card. You should carry some cash ($500-$1,000 MXN, approx. $25-50 USD) for buying a water from a street vendor or purchasing crafts at the artisanal markets, but nearly all sit-down restaurants accept credit card.

Please do not hesitate to reach out! We know this is a long way to travel and want to make sure that everyone is comfortable and has a great weekend. We are so excited to be getting married here and want everyone to experience how incredible the city is. Feel free to text, call, or email us if there is anything we can be helpful with (truly – if Kate had her way she would be planning everyone’s vacation for them!)
