If you are staying a couple of extra days in Mexico City, these are some activities we recommend outside of the city

  • Teotihuacan Pyramids

The architectural site features the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon which are over 200 feet tall. The city was designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 1987. This is about an hour outside of the city.

  • Arca Tierra Canal & Farm Tour (Xochimilco)

Located within the Xochimilco canal system, Arca Tierra is an agroecological community with a mission of revitalizing and protecting traditional Mesoamerican agricultural practices. Transplant yourself back to the time of the Aztecs with an early morning tour of the winding canals and chinampas (floating gardens). The experience includes a tour of Arca Tierra’s own chinampa and a meal sourced entirely from their famous floating garden that provides produce to some of Mexico City’s best restaurants, including Rosetta and Pujol. The tour is several hours long and takes place 45 minutes outside of the city, so we recommend it for those who plan to arrive early or extend their stay past the wedding weekend. Dress warm! It can be very cold on the canals early in the morning. You can book via this link.

  • Xochimilco Trajinera Boat Tour (Xochimilco)

If drinking, dancing, and listening to live mariachi bands on the canal is what you’re looking for, renting a colorfully decorated trajinera may be more up your alley. Pack a cooler and enjoy the festivities as you move up and down the canal. Similar to Arca Tierra, we recommend you rent the trajinera either earlier in the week before the wedding activities begin or in the days following the wedding.
